Podcast Player App - Podbean

What it does

Podcast Player App - Podbean is an Android app for finding and listening to podcasts, with tools for recording and publishing shows as well. It suits regular podcast listeners who want playback and episode management in one place, as well as people who are starting or running a podcast and want to work from a phone.

Listening and creating

For listeners, the app combines podcast discovery with playback features such as speed adjustment and volume boost. Downloads can be managed automatically, including removing episodes after they have been played. Podbean also supports live audio streams, where listeners can interact with hosts. On the creation side, it offers in-app recording and editing, so publishing does not have to begin with a separate desktop workflow.

Device considerations

Downloaded episodes use device storage; automatic download and deletion options can help keep that use in check. Recording requires access to the microphone. Live listening and content discovery also depend on a network connection, while downloaded episodes are useful when you are offline. The app’s broader set of functions may be more than someone needs if they only want a basic player.

Where it fits

Compared with a dedicated podcast player, Podbean is aimed at a wider mix of listeners and creators. That makes it a practical option if you want to manage listening and podcast production in the same app, but potentially a busier choice for playback alone. It has more than 10 million installs and a 4.61-star rating from about 214,000 ratings, indicating substantial use and generally positive feedback. The developer is Podbean - Podcast & Radio & Audiobook.
